Had a great time at the ‘69 reunion last night.  Not as many people as I thought would be there.  There were several there who hadn’t been to a reunion for several years so was good to see them.  Headed to the Coop tonight and looking forward to visiting those who I didn’t get to talk to last night!  Looking forward to our 50th!

Is it a gentleman's discretion or your failing memory when it comes to "other things"?  Don't fret, we saved a little humidity for you to help in your  reacclimation to reality in central Nebraska.  welcome back Mr. C

Cindy...

Happy birthday a day late.

Also, condolences to Kathy Henderson Storms on the passing of her dad Bill.As most of us know,Bill taught junior high classes for a long time.He was also one of our assistant wrestling coaches when we were in high school. I reconnected with Bill years later as he helped coach the Axtell wrestling team.

Dick K - I think Barry’s friend you were referring to was Clyde Swearingen. He drove a 2 door 63 or 64 Ford Galaxy.  He was definitely a “tough guy” in high school...one of those guys you didn’t want to cross.  I ran into Clyde in Grand Island in the mid 80’s when he installed carpet in our house.  I recognized him immediately and we started talking about dumb stuff we all did in HS.  He didn’t want to dwell on those years though and we soon moved on.  He married the right gal and really changed his life around.  He was and probably still is, one of the best carpet guys in GI.  The story your wife told of him “laying someone out” would have been spot on:)

Vickie and I went to see Once Upon a Time in Hollywood over the weekend.  If you haven’t seen it, the sound track alone is worth the price of admission...the show wasn’t that bad either!

WOW   I just looked at the pictures of the 1969 (50th reunion)  it's on their website.  It looked like everyone was having a great time !!!!!

I reconized alot of the classmates but had to get the 69 log out to put a name to some of them ?!?!

They had Rays Pizza in one picture !!!!!!!!!  Maybe we can borrow some of their ideas for our reunion next year !!!

Take time to look at the pictures-it's a nice trip down memory lane !!!!!!

Dick G - Wishing a great guy a VERY HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!  I hope it was a good  one!🎈🎈>

Dick K and Gary M - I remember Clyde Swearingen from Odessa school days.  My recollection, which is sometimes questionable, is he came from a large family, LaVonne was one of his sisters and she was close to our age, and a brother named Doug, as well.  I thought Clyde was an okay guy but I don’t remember him in high school at all.  I believe his family struggled with making ends meet, being as many kids as there were.

Thanks to all for the Birthday wishes and green bananas.  It was a good one. We were blessed with a rain, so decided to spend a few days visiting #2, #III, and holding my new granddaughter (that makes Terry #5 now). Wiener Dog didn't bring my slippers (never has) and I didn't eat a Ribeye but had the second best pork tenderloin in Indiana (according to Frank).

Holly, Your memory is fairly good yet, but you are thinking of another family.  Clyde was in our grade.  His older sister is Nancy and little brother is Roger. They were our nearest farm neighbors when at Odessa. Had some good times as kids riding horses, etc but lost track of Clyde in HS. No classes together.

This is my predication for the HUSKER FOOTBALL team . They will win nine games and lose only three. What do you think Dick G ?

08/20/19 07:50 AM #9026

Dick Garrelts

Since you asked "What do you think"...

I "think" the Huksters could lose every game and the fan(atics) would still holler "We're number 1".

And I think you should change the number on the van to 70.

Yes, Dick, I was a bit confused.  Nancy and Roger were Clyde’s siblings and Lavonne and Doug Hoffman were the other family.  So did Hoffman’s live across the street west from the school and have large family?  I’m thinking their house was an old grocery store?

I am so happy you were able to visit family and hug those grand babies.  I bet you are a fun grandpa!!

Take care, Dick❀️

Belated Birthday wishes Dick!  I'm running for Mayor of Loveland, so slightly busy.  Crazy impossible that Labor Day Weekend is coming up so quickly.  Everything is great in COLORADO.

e.>r>I'm looking forward to next August and our 50th! I'm trying to get those who haven't shown up before there. I'm still young, but we never know about tomorrow, right?

Dick Garrelts

Holly, You win a prize!  There were ten kids in the Hoffman family living in the old Webb Store. Lots of them are still in, or have returned to the area.  I see some of them occasionally.  Odessa was the brunt of a lot of jokes in the past, but some really good people have lived here. We got a good education, too. Thankful for that.

Mayor!  Way to go Kathi!     One word ... flannel.

At some point you may hope you don't win.  I'll start working on campaign slogans for you to make sure you don't. How is your Espanol?

We took your advice and spent some quality time in Hannibal. Actually it wasn't our first time there. Hannibal is one of the area's best kept secrets. And you can get a great Missouri pork tenderloin up the road at Monroe.

Carol,  No doubt you'll still be young for the reunion.  That's the problem. We're 18 again for 2 days and it takes 2 weeks to recover.  Looking forward to seeing you next year.

FYI   the 69ers managed to locate Madame Schrock
