Sue Wise (Divan)

I received word today Pam Eggen Lashley’s husband, Jerry, passed away yesterday after a long battle with cancer!  Please keep Pam and their family in your prayers. Here is the email I received:

Dear Family and Friends

For those of you that don't already know.......my Jerry passed away yesterday afternoon at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. He fought cancer for a very long time. I miss him so much, but I am so glad that he is no longer suffering with the pain. He is in heaven with Jesus and dancing the two step down the streets of gold.

Love,

Pam

Happy birthday to Bill Lynn !!!

I remember Bill played little league baseball for the Eagles. Also on that team were classmates Garrelts#2 and Roger Zimmerman. He played pony league baseball for the Firemen.Classmates on that team were Andy Rumbaugh,Rick Freese and myself.Steve Eatherton and Bob Kincaid (Dick's brother) were also on that team.Bill also wrestled for the Gold and Blue in high school.

Speaking of baseball, sometimes it's fun to know a guy who knows a guy...  Here's one for Gary "1/1024 Cleveland Indian" Martin;  During my recent trip to Kalamazoo  (real place)  I had the privilege to hold an autographed 1947  1st edition "Strikeout Story" by Bob Feller and a team signed ball of the 1948 Championship Cleveland Indians.

Yes-to my old neighbor & classmate friend Bill Lynn-happy birthday! Know he & his family were into music alot-like I am (& need to be more now that retired!)-but wondering Ron-did he also wrestle like you did? Think you were pretty good-I never liked it & boxing even less (no thanks to Mr.Joe Greeno there-ha!)

We could dedicate a whole Mini to Joe Greeno stories let alone his colorful quotes.  Greeno was more Drill Instructor than teacher/coach but he got my respect.  Baseball and Boxing were his specialties.  I think he lived down the street from Tiger which would make someone an expert on Greeno.

Yea Dick,Papa Joe Greeno was one of a kind. He actually lived in our house at 1605 8th ave.right before we did.My mom lived in that house from 1953-2010 until she died. Joe just moved up the street north 4 houses on the corner, 1701 8th ave.His daughter Barb used to babysit us kids on occasion. There was a vacant lot behind him right to the south of Gary Paine's house. He had a lot of us neighborhood kids running laps on that lot.

That lot got me in a lot of trouble one time.Patty Reeves(69) dad put a house there and after they dug the hole it was great for having dirt clod fights.I hit Terry Olson(71) in the eye with one and he nearly lost his eye.He had a patch over it for a very long time. I had to see him in school everyday and I felt so bad about that.Much like the time I got caught stealing those 2c 7up bottles out of Susie Wise garage I was punished to the extreme.I believe it was no Captain Kangaroo.

Joe...

Do you remember any of my cousins? They went to A.O.Thomas.My cousin Steve was a year older than us and Mike was a year younger than us.They lived across the street from Gig on 13th ave..Steve's best friend I believe was Brad Saum.Didn't you also live on 13th ave.? They moved to Imperial in 1962.

Did you suffer withdrawal  from missing Mr. Green Jeans, Mr. Moose and Bunny Rabbit before school?  Brad Saum died shortly after High School in a vehicle accident I think in Oklahoma.  His parents were friends with my folks and they would have lived due west of the old Junior High stadium.  Remember crime doesn't pay especially at 2 cents a bottle.

Can you still get 2c for a pop bottle?  Just asking for a friend who farms.

Batten down the hatches!

This weekend might be a good time to Post a message while you're snowed in, or maybe while you're standing in the checkout line at the grocery store.

How about a Caroling mini ?  A lovely snow (and some peppermint Schnapps) should help get everybody into the spirit.

I checked the Hukster schedule.  It appears we're SOL.  I had planned on a little snooze during the game while we're snowed in, along with some half-time corn chowder.  Wiener Dog is leaning toward ribeyes during an old Western.  He usually wins the argument.

I thought the 'Donald' was sending checks to his farmers to offset the tariff issue with China.

Tall and lean sexy Dorene parted them swinging doors. She was holding hands with some  Honky tonk man named Bubba . That kinda how the song went ?

Dick,  The Tariff Program to farmers was reduced by 50%, which is good. It seems like it costs me $2 for every subsidy Dollar I ever got.  I'd rather produce for a fair price - without government intervention.
