The name tags on the seat backs are aides for those of us demonstrating signs of early stage SFB to help know where we are supposed to sit.   It helps keep me from wandering and bothering others.  I was unable to make the association between the seat assignment on the ticket and actual seat so they simplified it for me.  The same principle is used in nursing homes.  Tonight's question----What was the name of the cafe that once stood where  Cunninghams beer garden now stands?  It was last operatrd by Fred and Mattie Russel.

That's nice to know, and if you had,  my losing streak would still be unbroken  at 19 seasons.  The offer  still stands as far anytime you wish to see a game just let me know.   Are the 70's  closing the gap with the 69ers or do I need to create some controversy to stimulate people to post?   What was the purpose of something called a 'Sheriff's Pass' in my vernacular?   Which classmate sold Bibles on the side?  Who owned a Flying Mustang?Which teacher made a lasting impression about literature to Rex Paul with a book?  Was it possible to go up the fire escape tube at Longfellow High?  Who was known as 'Sparrow' in Junior High?  Did Harold McClure like us that much he couldn't stand to be left behind so he matriculated with us to the Senior High?  Name your Elementary school Principals.  Why did Emily Beck lecture us numerous times to get our minds out of the gutter?  Besides picking up art supplies for Jack Shofstal what else did Roger Zimmerman and I bring back  for Jack during school hours?

That's not what I was hinting at.  You already have a jersey ....

Was I right about Russel's Cafe ?   I took a shot.

I am going to say the cafe was Camels.

Our principal at Kenwood was Malay Moberg. She taught school for 42 years according to her marker at the Pleasanton cemetary. She also taught 6th grade along with Leonard McCarville at Kenwood.

The Buffalo County Superintendent in the day was Alexis Johnson. Past Principals at Odessa were Jack Hurt and Paul Wilmont.

Dick,  I've known you for 50+ years, and the only thing I can say is you must have gotten a pass to actually be in the Sheriff's Department.

I did know Camel's Cafe.  It was a Dutch windmill.

I'll guess Bullit sold Bibles.  Somehow that makes sense ??

Schellhase had a flying '69 Chevelle.  It was "new" for about 2 days.

Sparrow was a Bus Driver.

This should have been 6 Posts ....  I'm gonna do it

Yes Ron & Terry-the Corral Cafe-lst served regular American then I think some Chinese food, etc. after changed management0new owners! Now another ? for those who remember or lived in W.Kearney area by the canal & Highway 30-what was the name (not sure I remember either really!) of the Mini-Golf course Putt-Putt that Dad, me & my friends loved  to play on when a teen & in colleg at KSC? Was near the Matheney's & land probably bought by them but not sure! Everyone stay warm-our first snow & real cold-not alot but sitll is cold & not fun-guess you folks there got the same!

Now to all the Veterans-have a great 100th Anniversary rememberance of WW1 (even if we weren't born yet!)-had one Grandpa in service-stateside-both were German either born or folks were-"they"-US-Armed Services didn't trust sending them over seas (as is "Over There!"-song)-strange that we hated the Kaiser more than Hitler least at first-all because of Pearl Harbor (& Jap attack) back then! (I had 3-4 cousins in WW2 also & Dad later in Korean War)-I was at Ft.Lee, VA-at AIT-Nat. Guard training in '79-same place Guy Schroeder-my Grandpa was in 1917-18-got the flu that weakened his heart & later died in '32 so didn't know him but wife Grandma Ora Kugler lived till Dec.'86!) served as a medic & later pharmacist & later opened a drug store that went as "Schroeder Drug Store", McCook, NE-Grandma worked at till 1942 when married Carl Kugler of now Kugler Oil Co! Alittle family history here-hope didn't bore you all-stay warm-later!

Howard and Delight Fox owned the Corral Cafe before the Sakurado's.  They lived in the house just west of the cafe.  Howard and Delight were Cydney Wimberley's aunt and uncle and Delight was my Mom's cousin.  When they retired they sold to the Sakuado's.  Delight lived to be 101 before passing 2-3 years ago.

I did sell bibles! the bitch I married in Lexington put a full stocked christian book store in my print shop, then she left it to me to run.. Lotta money in bibles. Hard to believe that someone of my evil upbringing could be in that type of business. She even tried to get me destroyed by converting me to Assembly of God Church. The only thing that saved me was my asbestos suit.

Now back to the licquor Stores:

Scowns had one across the street from Kearney Laundry

Kings was on east Hiway 30, I think

Orans also had one as well as Mettenbrink.

I remember running into my dad at Scowns, we just made eye contact and that was it. Tiger sold to me.

Bicos was our big supplier in high school. Marias so as well.

Remember the poker games at my grandmothers house, the fondues and beef fries?

How about the night we got busted at Clarks house? His parents were sure that there was a cartel suppling booze to the teenages in kearney because we had the top of the beer cans marked as to who owned what.

KIncaid, how about the mud run with the twins? I think they were twins, sisters anyway. and hosing them down in the apartments above the print shop. Boy dad was pissed with all the mess in the rooms.

I have to stop this is killing me.

I can only assume H.D. somewhat figured it out but thought it was best to let it go.   Did we ever actually pay for any Concert tickets during the early seventies at KSC?   Veteran's day is Monday which reminded me of the sponsor of untaxed cigarets  that we had access to that were being supplied for Summer National Guard camp at Ft. Carson ($2 per carton).  Isn't it nice to know we both survived the 'Young and Dumb Years' unscathed.

One more trivia question before somebody makes a run for the 70 ....

What was Nebraska Fats' address ?

Are you planning to invite her to the next Mini or what?

And who is Nebraska Fats?  I think I’ve heard the story but not sure!  Must be an age thing!  I agree we need to do a monthly coffee.  We could make it a coffee and then wander to the bar for a little afternoon wine and conversation!  It’s so fun to hear all of these memories!  I didn’t know the area had so many strip joints!    You guys are a wealth of information!  So glad you survived those years!  Hope your children don’t check on what we say on the forum!

Backlot is now the Buzz’s Marine Backlot!  The gal that did the decorating when they remodeled was very upset the pole was not saved!  She had plans to use it somewhere to keep some of the buildings history!  Mick had other plans so made sure it was gone before her plans were finalized!  You wouldn’t recognize the place now but the memory of where the stage, bar and restrooms were is still strong!  I didn’t think I spent much time there while the dancers performed but the memories are vivid!  Anyone remember Disco Deb?

It probably wouldn't be a good idea to invite Fats to a mini in this political climate.  She assaulted every guy who ever went there.  And some of them went back!  I remember getting thrown out of there, along with Cal and Rick F.  That's a story for a mini ... or not!

Using the Jeff Sessions defense---"I do not recall" because it worked better than the Bill Clinton version.
