I graduated from UNL in 1974, then went to teach in Australia for 18 months. I took the long way home and traveled throughout Southeast Asia and Asia, including Afghanistan, Nepal, and Iran. After returning to the US, I moved to California, where I spent the next 25 years. While there I attended Stanford Law School and practiced law for about twelve years, with a specialty in civil litigation. About 10 years ago I met up with my college boyfriend, Gene Giles, and we were married in 2000. After commuting between Nebraska and California for 2 years, Gene had had enough, so I quit my job and moved to Alliance, where I have enjoyed retirement.
