Happy birthday kids!  I'm headed to NM for a week to be with my younger sister, Susan.  She fell and broke her hip and a rib.  She and her hubby just bought a really nice camper so she could go on his business trips with him, that's on hold for now.  "Best laid plans"...

Seize  each day for sure!

I would like to acknowledge the passing of Kris (Nelson) Blaschko.  She was with us in school up until some time of her Senior year.  The '69 Log has her listed as a member of our class.  I think she was at Emerson Elementary with me during  one of my two enrollments.  There are several other former classmates that I recall due to various circumstances didn't formally Graduate with us in 1970 that I feel are still part of our class.  I don't know if we have any policy on the subject (Class of 1970 membership) but in the Age of Inclusion to me at least, she was a member of our class.

Dick, several in our class were discussing Kris this morning on Facebook. Some remembered her, others didn't. Her face looks familiar to me. I need to look in my Log. I'm for including them. They started out with us!

Im for including any of our past classmates Dick.  When I setup the site I used our graduation program to add the names.  We do have a couple of "guest" members who either contacted me or another classmate and ask to be included.  Most attended elementary with some of us or even as far as junior high.

I've moved Monte to the In Memory section and will post his obituary when it's available.

Our daughter Lindsay got married 8/1 so we gained a son-in-law and 2 beautiful  granddaughters, 11 & 6.  The weekend was perfect.  Then on 8/5 I tested positive for COVID-19!  Fortunately only one other person at the wedding tested positive and I had no contact with him so not sure where I picked it up since I always wear my mask.  I have been lucky to have a mild case, high fever for 36 hours, bad cough and headache.  Now it's like a bad summer cold. I'm stuck at home for another week and then off to do some camping around NE!

I remember Monte as we attended kindergarten together at Glenwood.  There were 3 of us, Monte, Gary Baer and myself.  Monte's dad worked for Carl Weber so they lived just across the field from us then we moved so we were at the west end of the section and the Anderson's were on the east end.  Since we moved we were then in another school district so I went to Riverdale instead of Glenwood.  He had 2 older sisters.

Gale Epp sent me an e-mail about Monte's funeral. It will be next Friday Aug.21 at 10:00am at All Faith Funeral Home in Grand Island 2929 south Locust. Anyone from Kearney wanting to go could ride over with me.

Vicki, how could you have possibly remembered that Monte's dad worked for Carl Weber? That is amazing. My dad and uncle also worked for him at that time.Carl lived on 8th ave.across from Pioneer Park on 20th st.a block east of Bill Lynn. Monte's 2 older sisters were Connie and Bonnie along with sister Debbie. When his dad drowned, his mother was pregnant with another girl. They were neighbors to Marcene on 1st Ave when they moved back here.Monte was a prankster and I remember going to their house  in about 6th grade.Monte and I went down stairs and he called his sister Debbie to come down. He had peed in a 7up bottle which was dark green and asked her if she wanted a drink. She did. Every time I drink 7up I think of that.

Ron, when my Dad farmed the land right next to where Sid farmed you knew your neighbors.  In the summer if they ran into one another cutting weeds or irrigating they always had to stop and visit.  One time something came up that my Dad needed to come home or go somewhere and we could see him visiting down the road so I had to go get him (before cell phones) so I jumped in the farm truck and took off the 1/4 mile, problem was I couldn't it get it shifted into road gear so here I'm am trying to hurry with it in 1st or 2nd gear.  When I got there the guys were laughing so hard, they couldn't figure out why I didn't shift.

Did you Dad and uncle work on Carl's farm or the other business which was the land leveling business I think?

Where Sid farmed is the farm on 30th Ave  south of highway 40.  I live on what was my grandparents farm a 1/4 of a mile north ot this farm.  Carl's son Craig lives there now and he farms all of their farms as well as the farm I live on.

Vicki,my dad and uncle worked for Carl Weber land leveling and surveying.I do remember that farm house and a lot of saturday nights were spent out there with my mom and dad and Monte's mom and dad playing cards. They had 3 girls and a boy and we had 3 boys and a girl.So that was quite a houseful.Sid and my uncle along with Ercil Ball (Pam and Holly's dad) graduated in 1945 from Pleasanton. My dad was class of '48.

Gale Epp called me today and told me today was Monte's birthday.

Monte was always of good humor. We shared a lot of laughs in Cap Williams' wood shop. Rest in peace, old friend.

Susie,  Prayers for a speedy and successful recovery from the Covid.

I read that Ken Gotobed's mom passed away. Sue, were you able to locate Ken for the reunion? It looks like he lives at Grand Junction CO.

Frank Schickedanz

Joann  -  Thanks for the information  -  The last time I saw Ken Gotobed was in Breckenridge, CO in 1979.  He was the guy that was helping people get on the Chair Lift.  I was supposed to hook up with him that evening but I tore up a knee (sound familiar) and couldn't get there.  I was just in Grand Junction this past weekend  -  I will try to look him up the next time I'm there.  I was stationed with a couple Guys from Fruita, CO and was able to visit with them  -  the first time I had seen them since 1972.  What a deal  - I plan to go back.

Dick  -  Those Guys I mentioned from Fruita, CO  -  I think I told you  - was because of your suggestion about the Website "Together We Served".  Thanks again for the suggestion  -  I had lost contact with everyone I was in the Army with.  Better go to work. Talk to you later.

It was a great time in the hills. The weather was perfect it was a small rally for being the 80th. An Antifa group showed up  in down town Sturgis. It only took a few minites they were encircled  by Bikers ! They were escorted out of town. Not sure what happened after that ?.

Danny  -  You have a much better vocabulary than I do  -  I had to google Antifa  -  "Violent Anti-Fascist Group - ANTIFA "  -  had no idea.  There is more on Wikipedia  -  Now that I have had my Lesson For The Day I better go to work.  Talk to you later.

Schick, I think I want to live in your world where you don't know what Antifa is! Sadly a lot if cities know them firsthand: Portland, Seattle, New York, Chicago to name a few.

If one has the time to read about Hate Movements etc. visit the Southern Poverty Law Center web site.  This is my short list of those who practice the fine art of disimformation for political gain:    Center for Immigration Studies;  Council of Conservative Citizens;  Identity EVROPA/American Identity Movement;  FOAK; Liberty Council;  National Liberty Alliance;  Oath Keepers;  Pioneer Fund;  Proud Boys;  White Lives Matter  and  one that plays off a name, American College of Pediatricians.  Too bad we can't regress to a simpler time and maybe reside in Mayberry with Sheriff Andy and Deputy Fyfe but, and there is always a but, I can't remember a person of color ever being in an episode or it could be my failing memory.

Happy Labor Day weekend all.  Hoping everybody is getting back to somewhat of a normal routine. We're back to mostly what we did before, although now it's done with a mask on inside a public place. I do try to avoid crowds that are mostly 20-30 year olds...that's really not a problem in Az:)

Sue - Have you kicked the Covid to the curb yet?

Danny - I can't believe you went to Sturgis! I thought about you when they showed the video of the antifa idiots in the middle of the crowd of bikers on the news. I thought a little TOO much restraint was shown on the part of the bikers. But I guess they should be applauded for that.

It's been a very hot summer in Az. this year. July was our hottest July ever and August was the hottest month ever in Phoenix.  We 👀 on the bright side...it can only get cooler!!  At least our lows are getting in the 70's again. Looking forward to October.

It occurred to me the other night that maybe I had went back in time.  Because of all garbage on the news and political adds, I rarely watch live TV. That particular day, other than playing with the  dog and chasing Cotton bugs for a few hours, I watched the following on TV -  Mannix, The Fugitive, Happy Days, Route 66, Columbo and a Steve McQueen movie, Bullitt.  In that 6 or so hours, not one political lie or Covid statistic. Thank God for METV, GRITTV and the other old channels. And yes, Frank, I had time to consume a glass or 2 of wine.

Everyone have a safe weekend and stay cool😎

Joann  -  I guess I never paid attention to the word  "Antifa"  -  I just thought it was just a Riot, or "Peaceful Protest" that they call it today that turns into a Riot.  We saw the Anti Vietnam War Protests and the Black Panther Movement  -  like I said I didn't relate all that to the word Antifa.  Just so you know I never paid attention to words in songs - I just liked the Music.  Creedence Clearwater Revival was and still is my Favorite Band of All Time  -  THEN   I   found out that alot of the songs were related to Anti Vietnmam War and Drug Related trips.  They are still my favorite band.   I am a very shallow person.

Gary  -  I have been drinking a few Wines myself lately  -  mostly Sauvignon Blanc and White Zinfedel.  Carol is still a Cabernet Sauvignon Lady.  Better go enjoy the Birds on my feeders  -  It's a holdiay weekend and that's part of what we do for entertainment.  By the way  -  Bullitt was a Great Movie  -  Talk to you later.

Frank, the news is depressing. The lockdowns etc. happening because of the virus are depressing. I want to go back to a happier time. Gary is on the right path, watch old classic movies! At least you're not in the present day for a few hours!
Dick I read the Southern Poverty article. A lot of hate being taught in our schools, universities, at home. Makes me angry, there is always someone off worse than you.
