Dan,

Sorry won't make the BB game as the commute from Montana is a bit far -

Separate note - Curious if this site will post an updated list of confirmed attendees for the 50th reunion as they come in so we can see who is planning on attending?

David

Happy Birthday,  Linda K.S.

A forecast of 70* tomorrow would be nice, but 60* will do.
We can take it.  We're tough.  We're Rowdy.  I wouldn't be surprised if there is some Corona Beer on hand tomorrow just to prove it.  Maybe even some Ebola Ale and SARS Hard Cider. There's also Boone's Farm compliments of Jerry O left over from two years ago. We're tough - well maybe not that tough.

Rowdy Nite   Saturday   February 22
Central Auto Electric at 5:00.  Ride to Game at 7:00.  Party after.

All you folks coming from out of town, travel safe.  And be ready to Rowdy!!

Great party last night !!  A big Thank You to Danny and the Regulars who put it together.  And of course it wouldn't have been the success it was without the efforts of those who traveled the distance to join us.  Mostly it was a chance to share some time with the good people who have reconnected to become sisters and brothers on a scale unimaginable 50 years ago.  Travel safe.  Peace and blessings to all.

P.S.  There was Corona Beer.  We're Rowdy !!

Dave,  Since you changed your profile picture just to show us you still have hair..... pffffttt !!

You missed a great party. We talked about everybody who wasn't there and spent their deposits on cheap booze.

From the secrets that came out, I imagine the cops are still looking for some of you guys. Turns out I was partying with a dull crowd back in the day.

Again, what was the name of that beer in question?

Thanks to each who played a role in the mini.  Enjoyed seeing so many fun Rowdies Sat nite. My NE adventure lasted a little longer than I expected.  Had a tire blow out Sunday just east of North Platte.  Nice man helped me change it, had quite the gash!  Nothing open to fix and had a tiny spare, so spent afternoon and evening in Motel 6, before getting a new tire Monday morning.  Ate at Lincoln Diner, sat with two cute elderly ladies and that was a plus.  Looking forward to the 50Th!

Down in the dumps need something to do how about a Cruise . Come aboard the USS Platte River and no worries about the Coronavirus ?  Captain Dick and 1st Mate Dan will have almost every thing under control ? You may want to bring a mask Captain Dick farts alot. Bring your own Paddle and life jacket and lots of Corona some extra for the Captain and 1st mate ! The cruise will push off from the Odessa bridge sand bar and will go no where. See you at the Bridge ?   Platte River Cruise LLC.

Where will the quarantine site be...just in case??

For those who don't appreciate nature as much as I do, you might want to bring ear plugs too.  Fact is, I don't think we can get to the river from here.  Sandpits and the new bridge kind of ruined our access.  We'll probably have to take our chances (Corona or not) at Maria's.

Happy Birthday, Susie!

Just in from CDC:  Corona is OK, but if you're traveling, avoid Flat Tire.

Dan & Dick--The cruise sounds like a great idea!  If memory serves, I don't think the next cruise will be the maiden voyage though.  Seems like that cruise happened in the summer of '70 with not so great results for a couple of "unmentioned" classmates!  Something about lack of sunscreen that day? Anyone wanting to share some details or take a guess on this one?

03/10/20 07:45 AM #9244

Dick Garrelts

Dave,   No guesses on the "unmentioned" in 1970, but every summer some of us Odessa kids would get baked like lobsters spearing Carp and Catfish in the river.  We used pitchforks instead of spears and could scoop up the BIG FISH out of the pools when the river was low.  Those BIG Carp were good eatin'.

It sounds  little like Mayberry with Andy and Opie going fishing.  I learned much later in life that most 'kids' river adventures occured as the sun set in the west.  I'm sure the Surgeon General might have endorsed this strategy to avoid cases of severe sunburn along with proper hydration since the water could be suspect.  Each community had their stretch of the River reserved as an outdoor classroom for social research.  I would venture to guess the expression of   "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" had a local version of "What happens on the River stays on the River ."

It was a Grand old time on the USS Platte River !  Captain Dick manned the Helm  1st mate Dan was in charge of the Stern. We had a very colorful crew . Captain Hook brought a net full of kippers. Captain Jack Sparrow had a case of Rum and Captain Charlie Allnut came with Maria's monkey Ahoy  Mateys .

OK, Dick K. So you don't buy my BIG FISH story about noodling catfish in the river. Unless you're referring to the misadventure at Klein's cabin ... which is a story for another day and another place.

In case you didn't know we have the World's Best Salesman in our Class.  This guy figured a way to profit during the coroner-virus by getting himself quarantined in Maui - For Free!!   Now let me know how you plan to get your money back on those Opening Day tickets.
