What happened to Dick Garretts?  Is he now in hibernation and suddenly silent. Wake up Dick we miss your input!

Frank Schickedanz

To All  -  HAPPY NATIONAL MARGARITA DAY  -  We will be participating -  After the week we had last week we deserve it.  Fortunately we had no water pipes that broke  -  only 40 hours of no power - We stayed in a hotel for 3  of those days because we had no hot water to shower with.  We were lucky compared to a lot of people.  Our pool equipment froze - it is equipped with an automatic freeze switch to prevent it from freezing but with no power it couldn't operate.  I have accumulated all the parts to repair it but the guys can't get over here for a week to 10 days so most likely I will do it myself.  I don't want to wait that long.  My Oldest Son's pool also froze and will need the same parts as  mine so I will probably get a double dose.

Did I say  -  HAPPY NATIONAL MARGARITA DAY  -  there is another reason for the Schickedanz Family to be HAPPY  -  Carol & I will be Grandparents somewhere around the middle of August.  Our 1st and probably not the last.  It is going to be a Little Girl and here name is going to be Francis  -  well not really (I offered them $500 to name her Francis but apparently they didn't need the money)  -  Her name is going to be Olivia.  Our Younger Son and his Wife gave us the news on Christmas Day  -  it was a great Christmas Present.  We went to Maui for a week and got back  3  days before all the crap started   -  It was a Great 6 Days and watching the forecast we really regretted having to leave.  We get our 2nd Covid Shot tomorrow  -  now they'll have put that chip in me and Big Brother will now be able to track me down better.  Better get to Happy Hour  -  I don't want to miss that Margarita.  Here's to all of you  -  CHEERS.  Talk to you later.

Still here, Dave.  Thanks for asking.  Covid protocol says to avoid people. I thought that meant the Forum too. My mistake.

I couldn't help but notice that you didn't inquire about #2, Kincaid, Schick, ... but we all knew Frank would have to tell us he had been in Hawaii.

Congrats, Frank.  Glad to hear you're safe and soon to be swimming again.

What #1 is not sharing is that he has been talking to some of us girls by phone on the side.  Lol

I hope you will forgive me for sharing that our  Dick Garrelts  is a HERO.

He was one of very few testing a new treatment, and it is going well!  He will be be rowdy in August at our 50+1.

Glad all is going well with #1.  I think of you often Dick.  We finally got appointments for our 1st shots.  Get those on Monday!  Whoever thought anyone would be excited to get a shot?!?  I'm not sure if we can get our #2 when we get home or whether we need to stay here to get it!  Staying here is a good option...it was 80 yesterday and I'll take that anytime!

Sorry you have a frozen pool Frank! But glad you enjoyed Hawaii!  You were lucky to be able to go to a motel!  The weather was horrible all over the Midwest!   If you're on FB, there's a post on the "You know you're from Kearney when" page by Kami Balthazar regarding Rowdy shirts.  Dennis Miller from D'Milaco is coming up with a design for alumni shirts. He will post an ordering link if anyone wants to order one of the shirts!  I'll try to remember to post a link here in case anyone would like to order one.  Hope your margaritas were yummy Frank!

Prayers for Mary Dady and all of her siblings on the passing of her brother John!  John was a great person to be around.  He worked at YRTC as living unit staff and then as a teacher.  Almost every Friday he would bake monkey bread for the teachers.  Something we all enjoyed.  He was a great teacher and made sure his groups participated in community service and experienced the great outdoors.  I was lucky enough to go on some of those field trips with him!  He loved giving his time to Rowe Sanctuary especially during crane season and took many people to Calamus Outfitters to watch the prairie chickens!  He loved his family get togethers and trips with his brothers!  He was one of my favorite people and I will miss seeing him at our retired teachers lunches!  Hugs and prayers for Mary and her siblings!

Happy 48th. anniversary on turning 21 Barbie.  Don't fret not about making a big splash at the bars anymore and lasting till closing.  The "New High Bar" is staying awake through the 10:00 PM news.  If my calculations are correct you have been above ground for 25,202.25 days; or 604,854 hours; or 36,291,240 minutes  Celebrate wisely and remember if it isn't hurting today it will probably hurt tomorrow.

Looks like the forum has been stuck in low gear for awhile. Understandable with all the BS that has transpired the last 12 months or so!  Things are starting to trend back to normal here in Arizona...like getting stuck behind a school bus with the arms down on the way to golf...rush hour traffic due to people NOT working at home...having to get to a restaurant BEFORE 5:00 to avoid a wait list...being able to watch the news again because it's NOT all about COVID or politics.  Im not sure it's a good thing that I welcome these things again...but personally I will never accept a "new normal"!

Dick- I'm glad you are feeling better and getting the best treatment available out there. Look forward to your posts about, well anything;)

Danny - Our prayers go out to Deb and you for her complete recovery.

Frank - Hope you got your pool put back together. Congratulations on your first grandchild.  We don't anticipate any grandchildren  but did acquire two "grand dogs"...a Bernedoodle and a Goldendoodle. We can't imagine life without them now:)

Happy Birthday to all the March babies...you know who you are!!

Two months or 61 days from now, I will be married. I'll add Joy to Niedt.

We bought a house in Holdrege since housing is more than our budget in Kearney. George is from Ravenna. We plan on attending the 50 +1 reunion in August.
see you soon. I've had both shots & George gets his 2nd next week.

Last night I had dinner with my dancing professional that helped me win Loveland Dancing With the Stars some years ago.  He asked if I'm still dancing, sadly I had to admit I'm not...and decided to set a goal of dancing, at least at home, to a couple of songs every day.  I'm to darn sedentary these days!

Shoveling 28 inches of snow Mon Tues Wed was certainly some movement.  Not as fun as dancing.

Marcene - Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I remember chatting with you at Cunningham's on Friday night at the 45th reunion. Happiness to you and George!

Kathi - It's been a while since I've seen snow, but as I remember, 28 inches is quite a bit. I hope you had some help moving it around. But as Dave said,  I do remember you wishing for snow!

I have to admit that when I checked the forum last night, I realized there hadn't been a lot of activity. So I decided to go to the page number button and gave it a couple of swipes down. It ended up sometime back in 2016. I read a few pages and decided to give it another couple of swipes and ended up back in 2014. It ended up being fun reading...kind of a blast to the past. That what happens when you're sipping a glass of wine on the patio, enjoying the evening and get a little nostalgic.  Confession is good for the soul😎

After hearing that a tornado went through Newnan, Georgia, I contacted Mary Guardiola this morning to see if she and her family were okay. Where they live it was untouched by the tornado. Thank goodness for their safety but thoughts and prayers are with those who were hit.
