Dick, thanks for the belly laugh.  You could sell your musings.  Notice my flannel shirt in your honor this morning.  I'm having 7 over for lunch, but no kids, different...

I didn't know how to turn the picture around, but that's one of my favorite gifts EVER

It was great to see Mike Klein at Madonna recently.  He's progressing well.  The group (Dick G., Jerry C., and Larry K.) met up at Madonna and had a "Mini" right in Mike's room!

Dick G.-- I enjoyed your hilarious take on the Hallmark Christmas programs.  You were spot on in your assessments!  But those programs are still better than the national political news!

Ron S. -- Are you officiating HS wrestling this year?  Let me know if you have any meets in Lincoln. I can show up and help you from the stands!

Gary M. -- In referring back to your November post (#9140) about the demographics of U.S. service men and women I thought there would have been a higher percentage of Marines as well. That's why you are called "The Few and the Proud"!  Thanks for your service!  And congrats to Vickie on her retirement!

Kathi -- Your Christmas picture that you posted was a hoot!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!  Loved the Hallmark comments Dick and yes, you were correct in all aspects, but I still love watching them.  Much better than regular TV.   I even DVR them so I have something to watch while sewing!  Glad to hear Mike is improving. Thanks to those who visited and represented the rest of us!  Enjoy the last week of 2019!

Was saddened to read about Jerry Eckhoff passing this week.As many of us recall he was in our class.I believe it was in junior high that he moved to Pleasanton. His obit said he was drafted into the Army, did 2 tours of duty in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1972.

Frank, when you retire maybe you can be the head coach of the Dallas Cowgirls.I don't think their coach will be back next year. I talked to Jeff Smaha the other day and he was telling me how you took him under your wing and helped him in cross country in high school.Did I ever tell you Joe Greeno lived in our house before we did  on 8th ave.? We moved there in 1953.Right next door to Cindy Walters and across the alley from Susie Wise and 2 doors from Kathie Dobberstein.

Lefty,I don't go as far as Lincoln to ref. Besides, even if you tried to help me from the stands,I probably wouldn't hear you anyway.I am told I am profoundly deaf in my left ear and have severe hearing loss in the other. I told the Doc I wanted another opinion. He said you're short too.I told him that I was taller than a lot of people to which he replied that most of them are still in elementary school.

I knew that ear doctor was a quack after 2 minutes. He asked me right off if I was having trouble with my hearing.I told him I couldn't even hear myself cough. He said he would write me a prescription.I asked if they would help my hearing and he said no they would make me cough louder.

To All  -  A very belated  MERRY CHRISTMAS & an early HAPPY NEW YEAR

Dick  -  Great Job on the Hallmark Cliff Notes  -  I most likely won't have to watch another one  -  I just go to the Forum and catch up on your knocked down verison

Tiger  -  You say you're deaf but I know you are like most of us  "Selective Hearing" as Carol says about me.  I just realized that my Hearing Aids didn't help my Eye Sight  -  Unfortunately we are Rooting for the NY Football Giants to beat the eagles  -  That is really a sad scenario  -  I do beleive that the BRONCOS have a legitmate Quarterback  -  the Proof is in the Puddin'  -  as we say in Fort Worth.  I always have fond memories of Joe Greeno and our Cross Country and Track Teams  -  I am amazed the Jeff remembers me.  I am in Indiana so I better go get that Breaded Pork Tenderloin  -  If I don't post have a HAPPY NEW YEAR  -  GO  BRONCOS  Beat Those Raiders

Tiger-- Your humor cracks me up!  Our doctors must have attended the same school.  I went in for my yearly eye checkup and the doctor asked me if I've seen any change since my last appointment.  I said not too much, just a few nickels, dimes, and quarters. So when he asked if there was anything else, I said I started seeing spots about 6 months ago.  He then asked me if I had seen a doctor.  I said no, just spots!

I'm planning on watching the Kearney vs Lincoln East dual in Lincoln in early January. I have a nephew coaching at East.  He said they are planning on moving the mats out of the gym and onto East's theater stage, turning out the lights and using a smoke machine and spotlights during introductions.  Something a little different than usual.   Those are 2 pretty good wrestling schools. I don't know if either of them can compete with Millard South's recruiting though!

Did you finally get retired?  And how's your supply of Spam holding out?

Frank--Tiger is onto something concerning the Cowboys.  Jason Garrett is a nice guy, but I'm thinking Jerry will can him, don't you think? If you can smile, clap your hands constantly, and dye your hair red--you'll do just fine! Take Jerry's $$ for a few years and use it as a stepping stone to the Broncos.

Dick G.-- Have you been in contact with #2 this Christmas season?  Does he ever make it back to NE?

Lefty...

I did retire last Jan.11th.Working 3rd shift the last 16+ years has still got me out of whack.I still can't sleep at night.Thank goodness for the ID channel and the Smithsonian network.A couple of my friends say I need to get a part-time job. That defeats the purpose of retiring.

They did a similar thing last Jan. here in Kearney when East dualed Kearney. They made a big production out of it.On the stage with a big screen and the Hub did a great job with coverage and photos.East won.I talked to old man McCurdy at the Kearney Invite earlier this month. He asked me when I graduated high school and I told him the same year Lincoln East won their first state title in wrestling. He knew that was 1970.I told him Jack Ramey left Kearney and went to East the 67-68 school year and was their coach then.Ramey came back to Kearney and started coaching at KSC the 70-71 school year.Ramey was a national runner-up in division 2 at a college in South Dakota I'm guessing at heavyweight.Ramey followed Marion Marrow as the coach at KHS.

KHS started wrestling in the early 50's and has had only 5 coaches.Marrow,Ramey, our coach John Perry,Tom McCann and currently Ty Swarm. Unfortunately the Bearcats have only 1 state title with several runner-ups which is like kissing your own sister.

Journal entry by Vickie Klein — 1 hour ago

Mike’s condition continued to decline and they became concerned about a stroke.  CT scan this morning shows no stroke but new bleeding in the brain... at least that is something they can take care of!  He is in ICU and they are just keeping him calm. Because he has been on blood thinners he won't have surgery for a couple of days unless the bleeding increases. We are requesting no visitors as he needs to have rest and quiet in ICU. Prayers are appreciated.

Please keep Mike and Vickie in your prayers!

Thanks for sharing, Joann.  Our prayers continue for Mike and Vickie.

Also remember Cindy as she recovers, and Carole Sue, Emily and others in our fold you might not be aware of  ...  To know you are in others' thoughts and prayers speaks well of Classmates who have reconnected and truly care about each other.  I'm humbled, yet proud to be a 70!

Thanks for the green bananas, Leanna!    BTW, You have loyal friend.  Barbie won't eat my hamburger unless I can assure her it isn't Dorene.

A lot of my favorite people have December Birthdays. Happy Birthday to all.

Carol,    Only you can appreciate that wise men from the east bearing gold, frankincense, and myrrh probably said "This is for Birthday AND Christmas".

Frank,   Apparently there's an unwritten rule you can't have "selective hearing" on a snow day.    Mimi said "finish off that Whitman Sampler so we can get rid of the box".  I heard that.   Now she has all these other little jobs ... I'm trying to convince her I can't hear while I'm digesting.  Any advice?

Update on Mike Klein from Vickie

Journal entry by Vickie Klein — 1 hour ago

Surgery is scheduled for 7:00 pm tonight although it could happen earlier.  We have been blessed with stable vital signs. The surgeon was so encouraging that this procedure will be successful and he will improve rapidly post op. I am at peace knowing he is in good hands, physically and spiritually, and expect this to be just a bump in the road. Psalm 62 says to trust God at all times. I am trusting in our Lord and Savior.

This sure  was a good old Nebraska storm !  Freezing rain four to six inches of snow and 30 to 40 mph winds. Does not get any better than that or does it Ohio State getting beat by Clemson OH YEA !!!

Make that 10-12 inches of snow, Danny.

Frank,   If you go to the festivities in NYC for New Year's Eve, dress like Waldo so we can try to find you in the crowd.

Dave,    In response to your inquiry about #2 (post 9196)  He doesn't post. And just to make sure I don't post for him, he had me change his password. (seriously???)   He is planning to come to the Reunion.
