It's hard to believe that 50 years ago the Rowdies were hatched. We are planning to attend KHS boys Backetball game Saturday January 26th 7:00 . Thinking back I remember the girls from the class of 69 and 70 wanting to be a part of the Rowdies but were unable to because of the politics at the school things have changed. After the game we will gather at Central Auto Electric BBQ sandwiches will be provided. You are welcome to bring an orderves or an appetizer also bring your drink of choice.

Dan--That is amazing to think 50 years have passed since the original Rowdy Section.  Hoping to make it to Kearney for the 26th. It will be great to see everyone!

Schick--Sounds like the Bear's loss is the Bronco's gain.  Fangio should be a good head coach for you.  He does know defense as his Bears defense was pretty good this year.  Better bring Peyton back to spark your offense??

Tiger--Could you make room for me to jump on the Chargers band wagon? I know you've always have been a fan, but I think I'll pull for Philip Rivers and the Chargers now that my Bears are out of it.  Congrats on your retirement!!

Dick G.--Probably will take you up on that Rowdy t-shirt!

Kathi G.W. can you pickup some of those flat chocolate cakes you have in Colorado ? They would be a big hit at the Rowdy party .

Lefty...

I was rooting for the Bears also.Feel bad for that rookie kicker missing that field goal at the end.Fans can be so merciless. There is room on the Charger band wagon.Even Schick !!! I have been a Charger fan since 1979.That was when I was in San Diego and Larson took me to 2 games. He had season tickets. The first game was against their hated rival the Raiders.Chargers won the game 30-10.John Madden was the coach and Kenny" the snake "Stabler was the quarterback for Oakland. A pizza chain was handing out Oakland Sucks visor caps for the game.I still have mine. The next week they played the Buffalo Bills and won 27-19.O.J.Simpson was with them and he had a couple big runs.He was on the run for much of his life after he killed his wife Nicole Brown Simpson. Dan Fouts instantly became my favorite player.Air Coryell. He had great receivers such as Charlie Joiner,John Jefferson,Wes Chandler and Kellen Winslow.Their star running back was Chuck"give me the ball and I will fumble it" Muncie. Also, a great kicker Rolf Bernershka. Go Chargers !!!

If I were able to attend, I would bring whatever was needed from CO, but sadly, not able, I'll be in Steambiat Springs.  Not sad about where I'll be, just that I cant whoop it up with the Rowdies.

Once more-(messed up prior message)-Ron hope U do well in retirement-have to plan well & not get bored-have traveled alittle more in mine-to Springfield, ILL & Salt Lake City, Ft. Worth(less), TX, etc. (missed the Dallas connection to JFK assassination & all-THIS time!), but did 2 nice Topeka, KS trips where good friend lives. Plan it well-life gones too fast but good memories will always last! Been to about half all the states-Germany (have cousins still there) & Europe 3 times-but some places-IF rich & world travel of course too poor or NOT worth seeing-N.Korea of course late Dad would've agreed on-not good one!

SO let's work on all of the problems of US all (well as our own) & not try to keep "Walling" in poor refugees (ok if my view doesn't match all!) for as learned in KHS reading in English class (not sure our teacher), but probably Ruby Duryea that "Something There IS that doesn't like a Wall!..."-Least the Berlin one is down & ALL Germany free! I am sorry for my political rant-won't probably do it again! I look forward ALOT to our "BIG" 50 year reunion-hope BIG attendance also-we are smaller in number but BIG in heart & maybe will move back a few months or around then-time will tell-take care & have a good (so far climate wise!) Winter season!

I can't believe I drew the second four.

Want to play poker, Frank?     But we'll pull out all five 7s to be sure.

100,021 hits on the site as of this time.

I should have checked last night to see where we were. The 100,000th hit probably occurred early this morning.

It could very well have been Sheri, Holly, Joann, or Dave.  My educated guess is Sheri.  I would hate to think a Lurker got it.

Sue Wise (Divan)

This was posted on the ‘69 site:  Thanks so much to Dick and Dan for planning and hosting the party!  Wish I could be there but I’m busy basking in the sunshine and 70 degree temperatures!  Would love to FaceTime during the party and see video/pictures of the Rowdy ceremony!

HEY EVERYONE!!!

The 50TH, yes the 50th ANNIVERSARY of the Rowdy Section will be celebrated at the new KHS gym on January 26th during the Omaha South basketball game!!! At half time they will unveil a new ROWDY SECTION sign. This sign was originally estimated to cost $500 but ended up costing $1800!! It is a beautiful sign but if anyone wants to help chip in we will gladly take donations. We hope to have some more activities going on that day. The after party will be hosted by the 'class! You can go to their website for more info on that. In the next few days there will be more info put out. The current Rowdy group wants to help celebrate also. So we are going to go together to plan some events with them. We also are looking for donations to help endow the future ROWDY SCHOLARSHIP. We have a good start thanks to many of you already. This will not be limited to the 69 and 70 classes. We want all 50 classes to participate in this. Many of them have kids who have been or are Rowdy members! So if as many as you can get this message out on all your social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc) to other classes it would be greatly appreciated!! We want a HUGE crowd on the 26th. Commemorative t-shirts by the current class should be available. You can send donations for the sign or the Scholarship fund to      Kearney Public Schools Foundation, 310 West 24th, Kearney, NE 68845 or you can call (308) 698-8030 if you want to call and make a donation, or go to the KPS Foundation website. If anyone has any ideas that they would like to do that night or weekend, please let us know!! Mr Rowdy Bob "Mole" Eilliott will be here to help celebrate!! Thanks to everyone who has helped so far!! Stay tuned!!!

Happy New Year everyone!  I should have made the last post into two posta to see if we can catch the ‘69ers!  Stay warm friends in NE and stay safe during this next snowstorm!

Tiger--I also want to extend my congratulations to you on your retirement!  To celebrate I'm assuming you will be enjoying what you have described as your favorite meal.  That would be any meal that includes "Spam" as the main entree?  And then washing it down with chilled prune juice?  Enjoy your retirement my friend!

Danny--Is it too late to change the Rowdy Mini menu to Spam in honor of Ron's retirement?

Dick G.--I was able to spend some time with my older brother Don (class of '67) over the Holidays.  I brought up Maria's in Odessa and asked if his class had any fond memories of the place.  Remind me to share one of those stories with you at the Mini!

01/11/19 08:09 PM #8547

Dick Garrelts

Dave,  Anxious to hear the Maria story.  I've heard a thousand stories (experienced a few) and they're all different.  And they're all believable. You just can't make this stuff up!

100055      how's that for another poker hand, Frank?

01/11/19 08:27 PM #8548

Dick Garrelts

Susie,  Too bad you'll miss the party.  Frank "weather permitting" Schick will probably turn up on your doorstep in AZ if we get snow here on the 26th.  I don't know why nobody wants to get snowed in here. We're fun.

THANKS  goes to Cindy WC and Dick K for going to meetings and trying to get our Class involved in this Rowdy thing.  Danny stepped up to offer the party place - AGAIN !   Kudos, Danny.

I figure we already beat the 69ers with posts.  Am a little disappointed there wasn't more enthusiasm about the 100,000th hit.  We should have offered a prize.  Maybe Anna can come up with something.

Just checked. This is what I found;    100070

Joann Stengel (Tumbleson)

Right now we plan to attend the mini on the 26th. Although I'm jealous of Sue being in 70 degree weather.
Do we all need to pitch in and create a retirement basket for Ron? (Spam and other favorites? 🤔).
We went and took in a matinee yesterday. We saw "The Mule". Mainly all attending were
retired. Mike wondered if some were looking for ideas for retirement income? 🙄

01/12/19 08:37 AM #8551

Dick Garrelts

100,100   Gotta admit, I waited an hour for that number.

No more poker for me.  You can only win so many times, then the House wins. If you've ever been to Vegas, you know if you stay long enough, they'll get it all back. Sort of like the IRS ... THE  IRS ... THEIRS.

01/12/19 08:41 AM #8552

Dick Garrelts

Susie,  You left town and Christmas is still on the Home Page.  Even Hallmark Channel has let the Christmas stuff go for now. Of course they'll start in again in June.

But then every day is Christmas when you're retired.   Right, Tiger?

Dick, Dan, Cindy...I was hoping you would attempt to change the homepage but since you didn’t, I will get the computer out and do it!  For some reason I really did think I had changed it.  I must have been too busy getting ready for my trip!  Don’t be jealous Joann, it was only 63 here today!  We did enjoy the art and wine festival this afternoon!  I overheard a couple complaining about the wind and had to laugh!  Their wind is nothing like Nebraska windy days!  I didn’t even notice the wind!  Looks like we might get some rain this evening!   Have a great time on the 26th!  Anyone know how much the new Rowdy shirts will cost?
